An update of broadband services in Vista Komanwel

iCelcom broadband download speed from Visualware CA server
Celcom broadband download speed from Visualware CA server on 24/03/08 17:40
Note: Top download speed I have experienced from Visualware CA server is 1.2Mbps using StarHub cable broadband

I was stunned to get 600kbps download speed using Celcom broadband on 24/03/08 around 17:40. However the excitement wear off after testing Celcom broadband for the next few days as I am not able to get that kind of download speed again. It seems more than 300kbps download speed is only possible if I can get a HSDPA connection. Nowadays I usually can get normal 3G connection using Celcom broadband which mean the download speed is between 50kbps and 300kbps. The range of download speed is too high for me. Is this normal for 3G broadband?

Anyway, from various sources, e.g. forum, road show, iZZinet is providing wireless broadband service to Vista Komanwel using iBusrt technology. From my limited experience using iZZi broadband in Low Yat Plaza, the broadband service is pretty good, e.g. 300kbps download speed from Visualware CA server, 300ms ping time to US server which is not bad for wireless broadband. Any iZZi users in Vista Komanwel would like to share their experience?

For NetLynx/TIME dotNet, I believe consistent 500kbps download speed from US servers is not a lofty goal for a tier-one network provider such as TIME dotNet. In addition, RM 79/SGD 35 per month is not considered cheap using international standard. Malaysia broadband users have been 'patient' for the past few years. It is time broadband providers in Malaysia to treat their 'kings' fairly :)

Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, please enforce Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. One of rules is throughput must not be less than 70% of subscribed level(uploading and downloading) for 95% of time, e.g. 700kbps download speed for 1Mbps plan.

Hi, I'm an izzi broadband user in block C1. The service is crap. When it first started the connection was pretty good. I can get about 80% of the bandwidth I paid for. Now, I can hardly get 30% of the bandwidth. Their customer service don't know how to do anything also except asking you to change position lah and add antena lah. all rubbish. that's my view about izzi.

Oh yes, my friend staying in tower c is using maxis. the 3G modem thing. crap as well. the customer service is also useless.

And now the time net is testing the market to see whether they want to upgrade their system in vista or not. I'm sure you've seen the banner all over the place. I got the money to pay for it. I just wish somebody would provide a f**king stable connection to vista.

Another case of oversell! TIME dotNet broadband is getting worst for the past few weeks as download speed from US servers can drop below 100kbps during night time. I understand izzinet is going to upgrade base station in Sri Petaling around May. Is that true?

Anyway, MCMC please enforce existing laws !!!
